A collection with international chic was brought together for the restyle of this elegant San Francisco living room. Using only what was found in other areas of the home designers Samuel F. Lewis and Stephen Kladder of INSTUDIO helped the homeowner see her furniture and art in a new way.
She had collected a wonderful mix of art and furniture over the years and had great personal style. Like artistic directors the INSTUDIO team devised furniture plans that borrowed furniture and art form three different rooms that the client wanted to restyle.
A large Asian table from the family room fit perfectly in the living rooms bay window. An original marble statuette was placed on the table to become a focal point and draw guest to the living room from the long entry hall. A Persian rug with green and golden tones borrowed from the family room contains the furniture arrangement and adds color to the room.
An empire daybed from the television room now anchors the living room seating area. A slipcover will be made from a pale golden green and soft pink silk damask that the homeowner had purchased for future use. The pink marble cocktail table never left its place.
A dark wood Chinese side table was placed between pair of bleached wood French antique reproduction arm chairs to complete the seating area. All of these pieces were formerly in the family room.
The monochromatic color scheme of creams and whites was balanced by muted colors. Natural colored oak floors and various colored wood finishes add definition to the space. Books in tall white display cabinets add color and texture to the room. The white of the cabinets continue the monochromatic scheme while adding a vertical element to the space. A white painted Victorian chair, a brass floor lamp and an iron and glass leaf motif gilt table holding family photographs complete this inviting living room.
Samuel and Stephen’s job of restyling this living room was easy as the homeowner had great things to work with that just needed to be seen and used in a new way. INSTUDIO can restyle your rooms either online or in person (in the bay area) as artistic directors for your life and style.
