Portrait of a Lady

Randy Figures is an artist who has a passion for Victorian homes. The details and influences come from every architectural style of the past. His hand drawn pen and ink architectural rendering “Painted ladies on Guerrero Street” shows his devotion to architecture, art and design. Drawing houses since he could hold a pen, Randy recalled his mother looking frantically all over the house for him when he was four years old then finding him out on the sidewalk drawing their house.

The homes are photographed extensively to get the best angle, details and shadows. In the drawing things like overgrown foliage or telephone poles can be eliminated to show the subject best. Figures may specialize in images of grand Victorian homes but he is open to capturing any architectural style. He also welcomes the challenge of rendering interiors in pen and ink. A commission is based on the projected time it will take to complete a drawing and the size of the drawing.  Commissions for home renderings can range from $150.00 to $1000.00, depending on size and level of detail.  A highly-detailed drawing measuring 11″ x 14″ may run between $300.00 and $400.00.

The interior Design Directors of INSTUDIO are supporters of local art and artists. Drawings such as these are rapidly becoming a lost art. If you have pride of place or your home has memories that you want to keep; consider having an architectural rendering created as a portrait of your home. Renderings such as these are not only framed to grace your walls but can also be used as invitations, thank you notes, or letterhead (even for evites).
