In 2011 to celebrate 100 years of fine furniture making in North Carolina; Hickory Chair Furniture Company announced its Centennial Design Challenge. Samuel Fleming Lewis won the professional category with his Octagon Table. The original design inspired by a Frank Lloyd Wright candlestick impressed the judges.
The ten thousand dollar value award would have allowed Samuel to purchase a wide array of beautiful hand crafted furniture by Hickory Chair Furniture Company. Having only experienced the table as a drawing the designer wanted to see the design come to life.
The North Carolina manufacturer agreed to realize the table and recently sent production pictures to INSTUDIO for review. The beauty of the inspiration piece matched with Samuel’s design and the tradition of high quality fine furniture making is expressed as the Octagon Table. Dinner for eight will soon be the celebration for an award winning design.
