Food for Thought: Dining and Design

Eating in a formal dining room may only occur during special occasions, holidays or because of dinner invitations. INSTUDIO Design Directors recently began looking for a special dining room table/suite for a family who considers it mandatory for their young children to be seated at the table for daily meals as well as for family gatherings. The table had to provide seating for a minimum of five people and a maximum of fourteen.

The environmentally friendly family preferred to use a vintage modern table that reflected their contemporary style. During a search of local San Francisco vintage furniture shops the Design Directors found a sturdy vintage teak Scandinavian table from the 1950’s or 60’s in perfect condition.  The table went from forty-eight inches round to a ten foot long table. The leaves had “aprons” so when fully extended the table looked long sleek and graceful. The Design Directors thought they hit the jackpot with the reasonably priced find.

The Design Directors, to provide alternative chooses for the client, broadened their search to include online sources. INSTUDIO likes 1st dibs. The website represents global merchants of fine antiques, art, fashion and jewelry as well as rare mint condition vintage furniture.

There’s nothing better than the combination of great food and stimulating conversation at the dinner table with family and friends. Find a dining table/suite that matches your personal style at http://www.1stdibs.com   Find Design Direction at INSTUDIO.
